TORINO AND ITS PROVINCE Well established in fourth position in terms of numbers of companies and second place for export volumes, the province of Torino has confirmed the strength and resilience of its local economic fabric despite the negative effects of the recent Italian and international crisis. This Subalpine province has maintained its third position in the Italian province rankings for its contribution to national level wealth creation and its Gross Domestic Product is comparable to those of States such as the Republic of Slovenia and Ecuador. The area's skills and manufacturing excellence ranging from car manufacturing, machinery, the aerospace industry, ICT and renewable energy sources have meant over the last few years that the position of the province of Torino has grown on international markets and it has succeeded in maintaining its position even in a negative economic context. A foreign resident population which is increasingly well integrated and contributes to the entrepreneurial system in an important way is taking a significant role in developing the area's socio-economic fabric.
